Hi beauties, Jose is back from NYC (YAY)! I'm planning a super healthy celebration meal as we speak. We're heading to Tulum in a week so we're both all about the beach bod right now (the struggle is real). Tomorrow we're going out for a very close friend's birthday (HBD to my Anna boo!!!!). I haven't been out in a very long time so I can't wait to get out and enjoy our city.
Thank you to all my loyal readers. I can feel your good vibes. I want to share all of my style know-how with you to hopefully make your lives (and wardrobe struggles) easier. I find great staples allow me to wear other items that might otherwise be tough to style so if you need items from below, start a list on your phone's notepad titled 'Wardrobe Needs'. Lists help me stay focused and avoid impulse shopping.
Black Wool Coat // I recommend investing in a classic shape that’s easy to wear and looks good with everything. Look for clean lines, minimal detailing, and invest in the best possible quality you can afford. Fabric is everything. Check the inside tag to make sure it’s at least a 'wool blend'. This means the fabric is warm enough for Canadian winters and will wear better over time. This time of year is the perfect time to buy because everything is on sale. Black Skinny Jeans // I currently have 5 pairs of black denim on heavy rotation. They’re pretty much all I wear. I recommend choosing fabrics with a bit of stretch and make sure you get them hemmed (just above the outside ankle bone) if they’re too long. Cropped denim is having a moment and shorter styles look better with booties and sneakers. If on a budget, I would find a local Levi's retailer or check out Paige Denim if you want to splurge.
Structured Black Bag // If you work in an office or corporate environment, I’d go with a more structured silhouette. Again, invest in real leather. There’s nothing worse than wasting your precious funds on inexpensive synthetic bags. There are great ‘vegan leather’ options out there but do your research. In my experience, the corners fray and faux leather wears out fairly quickly. If you’re on a budget (aren’t we all?) wait until you find a bag that suits your lifestyle and save up. It took me a very long time to be able to purchase this bag. I made sacrifices along the way and stayed focused on what I wanted.
