Hi beauties! I recently stumbled into wardrobe styling. I'm not surprised though, it's something I've always enjoyed. I've been helping my mom and my sister purge and organize their wardrobes since I was 12.
When it comes to clients or even my own wardrobe, I follow a minimalist approach. I believe in having a carefully curated wardrobe that features high quality basics that can be mixed and matched together. This approach is often referred to as a 'capsule wardrobe'.
I'm going to share new lessons each week so you can follow along if you feel like simplifying your wardrobe too. I swear it will change your life! Lets get started.
Step 1: Expose it All | Pull everything out of your closet and drawers so you can see the insane monstrosity you've collected. You need to see if all together so you have a visual of how much stuff you've accumulated. Go through each item and decide whether to keep, donate or throw away.
Step 2: Create Categories | Creating categories is key. Our clothes have many categories in our lives but for now I'm focusing on professional life, leisure life and then special occasions. From there, we're going to determine what type of look fits in each lifestyle category. We're going to call these looks uniforms.
Lastly, make a list of items you need to complete your look/uniforms. My current client doesn't have a pair of black denim so I sourced 2 options. I made sure they're super stretchy, high quality and super wearable. Comfort and functionality is key.
