WHAT I'M READING | SLOW: SIMPLE LIVING FOR A FRANTIC WORLD
Hi beauties,
I hope you’re all well. Things have been good with me lately. I got to be apart of a fashion segment on ET Canada last week which was a bit of a childhood dream. I also got to speak to business students yesterday about social media and brand partnerships. It’s very exciting to see all of these different avenues pop up so I’ve promised myself to explore them all even if it means stepping outside of my comfort zone.
I also been reading a ton and just finished a great book I want to share with you. A dear friend of mine gave me a copy of SLOW: Simple Living for a Frantic World by Brook McAlary for my birthday and after reading it cover to cover in a few days, I’ve made it a priority to slow down.
In her book, Brook talks about freeing yourself from the frantic society we live in and how simplifying your life, allows us to enjoy the simple joys in life.
Pre-SLOW, it was like I had entered myself into some sort of “productivity” race that in the end I would lose. It’s no wonder so many of us experience periodic burnouts. I can now see that the most productive thing I can do is to slow down, create buffers for myself and prioritize what matters most to me.
I recently made it a point to leisurely stroll down to SOUVENIR, a super cute shop very close to where I live. I’m so grateful to live in a city that offers such beautifully designed places and spaces. Exploring this incredibly curated shop was the perfect mental break I needed and a great way to feed my creative soul.
xx
