If you watch Instagram Stories, you may have caught bits of the fun adventure I went on with Lexus Canada last week. The carefully curated Lexus Master Class took a small group of influencers around the city in 2017 Lexus IS sports sedans to meet and hear from Experiential Masters aka pioneers and leaders in the world of fashion, design, food and drink.
I instantly fell in love with the 2017 IS’s modern design and premium craftsmanship. The attention to detail is obvious in every inch of this car from the cross-quilted stitching on the leather seats to the stunning LED head lights and alloy wheels.
As we drove from stop to stop on the tour, I couldn’t help but notice the IS responsive handling and advanced technology. The standard Lexus Safety System+ uses sensors to detect other vehicles and obstructions in front of you. If there’s a high probability of a collision it will warn you and apply the breaks if needed.
Highlights from the Lexus Master Class tour include, listening to Ania Taubenfligel, Co-Founder of sustainable denim line Triarchy talk about why she uses 85% less water to produce the collection’s jeans. I was shocked to learn about the catastrophic impact my favourite fashion staple - denim, is having on our planet. I will definitely think twice about how often I add a new pair to my collection.
At our next stop, the Cheese Boutique with Maître Fromager Afrim Pristine, we learned about the process of aging cheese and the craftsmanship behind different cheeses, meats and other ingredients. We had the opportunity to taste a cheese that Afrim has been aging for 8 years – an Aurucchio provolone that won’t be available to taste for a few more years.
We also had celebrity photographer George Pimentel take our photo and we got to visit Spirit of York - a vodka and gin distillery (the only distillery in the historic Distillery District) and create our own flavoured bitters. We finished our amazing day with champagne, oysters and a fantastic dinner at the new Café Cancan.
As if that wasn’t enough fun for one day, Lexus ever so graciously sent us each home with an IS to experience for the week. I loved having it in my everyday life. I totally got used to having the rear camera when parallel parking downtown and opening the sunroof as I cruised around. I had to say goodbye this morning but can confidently say the Lexus IS is perfect for anyone who’s like me and always on the go and for those looking for a smart entry-level luxury sedan.
